This game really needs zombies to shine!

I played both Division 1 and Division 2 with my wife and we had a real blast. While I remember D2 having these clunky animations for characters who looked like apes carrying a gun pretty much draining a good chunk of the atmosphere out of the game, the real bummer was the attempt of the devs of making a unique realism-like story revolving around a post-apocalyptic world with a virus infection that didn't turn people into zombies.

While being unique indeed, the game literally screams for it! I mean, you walk down the streets and have shootouts all the way through the game with some kind of high budget raiders (like upgraded versions of raiders/bandit gangs that can be found in the Fallout/Wasteland series). The amazing atmopshere with all these huge destroyed cities, abandoned buildings, streets, and what not. I always expected hoards of zombies slowly surrounding you coming from all the corners, since the game really has everything it needs to make you think this will happen next. But nope. Nada. Not gonna happen.

Now not every game NEEDS zombies. I know, I know. But THIS exact kind of game has one of (if not THE best) base to implement a post-apocalypse based on zombies better than any other game in this genre. The small addition of having to fight zombies would make this tactical looter shooter MMO become a bigger thing than it ever was I am sure. If 2D zombie survival and clunky half-baked minecraft zombie games have huge longterm success just for the fact that they revolve around walking dead being the main enemies, then Division has the potential to blow everything out of the water even without any deep crafting/survival aspects. It makes up for its superior gunplay and RPG progression looter shooter style.

Imho, the fact that they didn't throw that in as one of the possible enemy spawn mutators for one of the floors in Summit is another example of them not implementing the existing content in interesting ways.

I wouldnt mind a faction where the main theme is experimentation to fight hte virus and people came out of it zombified or something, could be cool and creepy if done right.

I think the zombie thing has been over done. I'd rather see MMK Ultra type rogue faction or an alien invasion.

Our problem is they look like US for some darn reason.

Well if you were talking about low quality games in general being over done I'd agree with you. Now most zombie games are low quality (like these countless DayZ clones for example. Those revolve around PvP, zombies are there but just get ignored. Also they aren't even real looter shooters or survival games either. Their atmosphere + gunplay is subpar at best. And they don't even have a story, let alone missions/quests).

On the other hand can't really get enough of good quality games regardless of the genre. Now, there are 0 RPG progression looter shooter style MMO's revolving around zombies. I have two games on my radar that might fit this category but they aren't released yet: The Day Before and Redfall. Though the latter looks like its made for kids with its cartoony artstyle (switching zombies with vampires even) which I find will most likely end up just breaking any dangerous walking dead atmosphere and immersion.

Edit: Redfall actually released a month ago (I overlooked that somehow) and it seems to have been an major fail. So scratch that. This leaves only 1 game in this category.

Want a zombie game? Go play Days Gone or Dying Light. The idea of wanting zombies in The Division is straight retarded and a terrible idea.

Truth, I always thought this game was leading up to a zombie game. First comes the virus and all the Chaos with people just going crazy and factions trying to take over or make a play for dominance. Then the virus mutates and then enters the zombies and other mutants which opens up another major threat.

I still love the city back drop of this game. Truth, I think they could use this games city assets and add them to a real good open world zombie game. More so when you can go inside some of the buildings and areas. Just like that canceled indie game was going to do (Sorry forgot the name of it), which got a lot of hype till it was sidelined. So yeah zombies are overdone but most of us will still flock to a good zombie game, look at Dead Island 2.

lol I had a same idea when playing the series .D Not in the main game, but it would be great DLC for sure but even as a fun it would go against lore so much Iam pretty sure it will never hapened :D
