There are a few overpowered builds/named objects that can only be obtained on the DarkZone (PvP Area) but those builds are not needed for any endgame content, only being fairly superior on PvP scenarios, wich are the scenarios you get such build to begin with.
If you want to enjoy raids and any other PvE endgame content you dont really need to PvP. So you don't need to worry about being locked out of content or having to face anyone else if you don't want to, chill out.
All that being said I think PvP on DarkZones can be quite fun, you should try it.
Nope. You'll never have to set foot in the PvP areas called Dark Zones. There are DZ exclusive items but even those you can get from "Named Item Caches" (loot boxes you can buy with game-earned currencies).
There are raid-only drops but they are not needed for metas.
