Just bought the DLC. Why am i getting greens and blues?

After grinding the main Story and getting high-end gear and exotics why am i getting greens and blues in the DLC story? should i get rid of old gear now? or can i increase the gear/weapon lvl of the gear i was already using in Washington D.C story?

I run heroic to legendary everything and purple still drops occasionally. Just the way it works. And even purple has value - break it down for materials. Once u beat Kenner the fun gear loot hunt begins and as your SHD lvl increase so should the quality of the gear u find.

when you start the dlc player level goes up to 40. so you are 10 below the max. In the main story max level is 30,so think of it as now you at level 20,and you still getting blue and green drops. Soon as you start the tutorial and kill a few enemies you gonna be level 31,and you can see on your armor, it drops from like 6 bars to 2,because the level 30 gear not powerful in dlc.
After you finish the dlc story you wont see greens or blues, purple for sure.
Like previous comment said you can even find purple on heroic.

thats complete normal that you get green on lvl 31 but they 10x timees beter then your 500gs orange one on lvl 40 you will get oranges dont save any gear whats not lvl 40 just salvage it or sell so can buy some gear from shops when you will get lvl 40

Up the difficulty, max out the boons and buffs and the loot drops will be better and more plentiful. Play in a high rollers team will also increase the rare 2-5% drop rate chances.
Think about it, high risk - high reward.

Better make your level to 40 first before grinding for gears.

If you have solid 30 set it is enough to go level 40, if not, you can wear anything you found better.

For exotic you can re-craft them using the old one, but better do it when you are already level 40.

Once you start the DLC storyline, the max level cap is increased to 40.

The majority of gear you gather in the base story and DLC story will most likely be obsolete in the endgame.
