There's a lot of people who didn't get the achievement. I wonder if it's bugged out?

Apparently you need to have the game downloaded on your pc for five years to get the achievement. If you uninstall it during the five years and reinstall it just to get the achievement, it doesn't work (but I'm not sure)

I find it very difficult to argue against this reaction.

A common misconception. The last played date is stored in Steam, not the game and that's how the achievement is triggered. It is however possible that the date shown for the game was not "last played", but date of purchase, which tends to happen when a game is left unplayed for an extended duration. A fix for this has already been found on these forums, but that involves fixing the date shown 'before' launching the game to get the achievement, so he'd have to wait another 5 years and then remember to fix the date to get the achievement "legit".

Part of this issue going around could be from some people after being bored and finding everything, uninstalled the game to save space.

Not entirely sure though.

I just adjusted my system clock. It's not SAM so I don't feel bad about it.

Can you link me to the fix that you say is on these forums?

The Stanley Parable uses the "Last Played" date on Steam to check for the "Go outside" achievement. This date is stored on the Steam server, not on your computer.

In your Steam Library, select "List View" from the icons near the top-right of screen, or select "Games List" from the "View" menu.
The "Last Played" dates for all of your games are shown there.

The information shown next to the "Play" button on the "Detail View" screen includes the "Last Played" date only for games played less than a year ago, then it reverts to showing the "Game Purchased" date again.

But, there is a bug with Steam:

The very first time you install a game on Steam, it records that as your last played date.
When a game is re-installed, it will temporarily display last played "today" within the Steam client, without actually uploading the date to the server.
Restart Steam, and it will correctly display the previous last played date again.

So if you need to re-install The Stanley Parable prior to attempting the "Go outside" achievement, you must then exit and restart Steam before playing.

Another issue that may prevent the achievement from unlocking is if you had turned achievements OFF from within the options of the game.
