What does it offer?
I have followed this game for few months now, watched numerous videos, I like what I see, but biggest problem I can see, its very repetitive. From environment, to enemies.
Obviously survival plays a big role, and just like every other game, start looks to be hardest, but it also looks like it becomes item hoarding game after a while. No matter where you are, environment looks the same, to progress you need to go out and kill enemies and loot.
What sets this game apart from others?
Thanks

Its a wasteland survivor simulator. That's what I get out of it. It feels like the MMO fallen earth, but on a smaller scale. If I get bored farming gold, I can do something else, like kill faction npc's for loot etc. I get fully engrossed into the tone of the game, which is harsh. But i'm a fallout fan as well so I just like post apocalyptic games.

I understand your question though, and yes, it gets repetitive. Currently, end game is farming tungsten to buy tungsten armor and other items requiring it. The faction system is arbitrary because you can pick any faction at any time if you want and can go back to neutral at any time simply by murdering a member of the current faction and running away for a few seconds.

If you get bored killing stuff and farming currency to buy more stuff, you build your base and survive, that's about it. I play on the MP official server and so I also have to deal with players attacking my base, which happens regularly. When I say attack, they just knock down my walls because it's extremely easy, one swing of your weapon will knock down a players wall. Bit too easy.

There's the MP aspect if you play MP of course. Can you trust this player when they say they're friendly, etc.

Survival mechanic is overheat. At 1400 it hits and temps reach upwards of 71C outside. You seriously need to stay under cover and in shade. The game is programmed to register when you're under shade and will cool you down. If you overheat and don't find water/food in abundance, you absolutely will die. Hardcore survival here. You drop all your stuff. (except your pockets and pants, which brings into question, tactics for what you should keep in those slots always in case of death, your most important items of courrse.)

Most of the discussions take place in their discord however.
