How Do I Save?

Just started the game a while ago, and I haven't been able to figure out how to save. Do I just have to rely on the autosaves? Does the option to save not come until later? Am I just blind and not seeing the save button? ;___; Thanks in advance.

You can save using Artefacts (those glowing orange lamps).
Other than that, you'll have to rely on autosaves.

Hi.
You can activate the quicksave-function by configuring the "settings.cfg"-file located in the folder %userprofile%\Documents\Penumbra Overture\Episode1\

Set the value
AllowQuickSave="true"

Now you can quicksave by pressing the F4-button and quickload by pressing F5 at any spot in the game.

Oooohhh boy...I'm having the same Save problem. I get past one set of steam and then get burned alive trying to get thru the next one. Been trying for two days now. I'll try your solution Gartner, if I'm smart enough !! Thanks.
