"Your graphics card does not support vertex shaders"
So uhh, I have a AMD Radeon R5 M330. Yes, the drivers are up to date. Still, the message in the title pops up.

Any ideas?

Never buy AMD, that's an IDEA.

I figured out what happened. For whatever reason, since this game apparently uses OpenGL, the version got reverted to 1.1. And it uses OpenGL not from the AMD card but instead of the integrated Intel graphics card.

So whoever has the same problem, make sure to keep your OpenGL up to date. Uninstall and reinstall all graphic drivers.

The problem has nothing to do with being a AMD GPU or not, this particular problem also happens with laptops with dual GPU's Intel/Nvidia.
...

neonsynth, this is a known problem with laptops that use two different GPU's, one low power, low performance from Intel, for desktop work and to save battery and another from AMD or Nvidia for gaming.
When the game lacks the necessary, "special trigger code" that tells the system what GPU it should use, (most decade old games lack that code) the OS itself has to chose automatically, what GPU it gives to the software running, it does so, by detecting if the software running is 2D or 3D, depending on the API calls, but like you found out, whatever the reason it sometimes fails to detect the correct API.
Most modern games come ready for this, like i said they have a peace of code that tells the OS what GPU it should use, but this game, came at a time where such laptops with double mismatched GPU systems, didn't exist, so it has no such code.
Fortunately when this happen, you can force the game to use the correct GPU manually, no need to reinstall drivers.
I don't have such a laptop right now, so I don't recall 100% but afaik is done in AMD or Nvidia GPU drivers, depending on the gaming GPU you have, there's a section in there, where you chose what software should use the GPU.
In any case, don't go for my word alone, see online how to select the correct GPU for games in such dual gpu's laptops.
