Zetterburn issue
I chose to play Zetterburn because I like his design, combo potential and gameplay. I'm now level 50 with him and finding it frustrating to play a lot of different matchups...

The worst matchups are Clairen and Ranno. I know Clairen is rather topical right now, but I do feel this is somewhat due to the fault of Zetterburn. Playing Zetter feels like every other character has a longer hitbox and more opportunities to keep out Zetter from being able to play.

With how easy it is to play other characters, I feel like a have to play amazingly well to get around very simple methods of keep-out from other fighters, and I cannot find a solution that exists in Zetter's kit.

I don’t think of zetter and think hard to play, so you must have 1 of 2 issues. Either you are trying to do cool things but are getting limited by his kit, or you are criminally bad.

If it’s the first thing, then you just gotta accept that zetter is cringe and always will be. His kit forces him into the most lame fireball dash attack up smash type garbage to the point where he can’t do anything else. If you want to play cool and you want your opponents to enjoy fighting you, you shouldn’t play zetter or it won’t go well.

And if it’s the second thing, then you just gotta find counterplay. Ranno and ESPECIALLY clairen can be super annoying but that doesn’t mean they are overpowered or even have an overpowered matchup. I main lox, for example, and still can beat his worse matchups as long as I understand that I am at a disadvantage and use that to shape my playstyle. It’s less so a zetter issue and more so you not fully understanding the character’s matchups yet, I promise you there is counter play.
You gotta spam lazers against clairen. Try to pay attention to when she's standing still and looking to parry them, stop her from moving so much and try to get her with the heavy hitting moves such as the sweet spot fair and dair. If she shields your dair and you spaced the hit properly, you can use zetters best tool in the form of his shine pressure / wave shines, behind her and follow up to get spacing potential.
She has the worst recovery in the game, IMO. if you learn how to edge guard her in the training room, she becomes really easy. The trick really is to play a semi aggressive / defensieve approach to clairen. Her attacks have decent end lag and she's isn't that fast. Bait her into attacking you when you have just enough frames to bring up shield and counter attack. Know what are bad ideas in the vein of the fact that zetters attacks are so puny but have amazing frame data and shield lag / pressure.
Spam lazers.

so for ranno. honestly this frog is just way too good. His needles beat zetters lasers, he's a bit heavy and has a really strong dtilt meaning that his ccs and other attacks are so good. His fair kills really early and really easily. Hes faster than zetter on the ground, has a way to deal with zetters lasers, how do you even win in neutral against this stupid frog? who has moves that are even more disjointed against zetter.

Honestly at high level play, most zetterains that I watch switch off of zetter when they see a stupid frog. idk, this match up just sucks tbh.

Where I've been able to find success tbh is a really smart form of platform camping. Ranno sucks alot in the air, his shield pressure is extremely bad if you know how to time his dair pressure properly. His needles only go straight down, and his air mobility sucks. I never lazer rannon on the stage, only in the air to get a follow up. I normally force im to play aggressive and jump towards me so I can shield drop and get free spacing. I never challenege him on neutral, it's either ledge camping or paltform camping for me.
