Battle pass
So you can only earn 1 actual skin?
Everything else can only be bought in a paid bundle?

I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but this monetisation is so greedy it's becoming impossible for me to feel enthusiastic

Ah yes, giving free rewards and having micro transactions is greedy, but charging for the ability to even earn rewards is fine

You can buy any of the bundle skins "for free" from the Bucks shop separately if you want one and have the Bucks for it.

The bundle isn't mandatory it's just a shortcut/good deal for people who want to put money into the game.

you also can get bucks by leveling your characters and doing events

I'm still trying to figure out how many games there are out there more user friendly than this one for cosmetics for so many people being so incredibly cynical about the whole ordeal,

Imagine riot games giving you 25% of the RP you need for a skin + a full skin for free each month. Not even counting all the stuff you can simply get with coins that you can farm at infinitum.

Ofc you wont get everything instantly for free, but if you really like a skin the posibility to get it for free its 100% there.

The difference is that I don't have to pay 30 dollars just to play League or Valorant. There is no monetary barrier to entry. In RoA2 I have to pay 30 dollars just to have the option to spend even more on skins. There are plenty of game that are much more generous with cosmetics. Instantly the first two I thought of were Rocket League and Overwatch 2 which are both free and give dozens of free cosmetics per season before you account for additional free event cosmetics.

The fact that you think you can compare multimillion dollar companies to the funny Furry Smash clone really tickles my fancy.

Also, no monetary barrier entry on league my ass, unless you are planing just playing a singular champion or the weekly rotation like a toddler, prepare to grind for YEARS if you want every character for free.
Also Also Overwatch2 holy kek werent they selling the new characters on battle passes till people literally make it the lower rated game on the hystory of steam and had to backtrack the idea?

For Rivals you pay 30$ for 10 working characters and decent enough netplay, zoomers are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obsessed with cosmetic in video games its saddening.

Well since it’s the funny furry fighting game and has some pretty based devs, us voicing concerns means a whole lot more than it does in triple aaa titles.

Is the current system better than most of its type, yeah sure, but that doesn’t not mean that it’s unnecessarily greedy rn and could be much better for consumers. Nothings going to come of it if we don’t speak up, so it’s pains me to see people like you blindly defend every aspect of it.

Ok, please educate me, how would be your "fix".

Also correcting wrong facts, (like f.e clowns that to this day still think you need to pay a "battle pass" to get the event rewards) is not blindy defending

I think there’s an argument to be made for free cosmetics and more bucks given out for free, but that’s not really what I’m advocating for since I know they have to make a lot of money to keep this project going.

I simply advocate for 2 things, free palettes, and no coin shop rotation.

With the former, no matter if you have cosmetics in your game or not, taking something entirely free and putting a steep price tag on it should never be ok. As an example, black alts, which were completely and entirely free in the first game, now cost $16, or 1600 Aether bucks worth, just to unlock them for all 10 characters. That alone, on a common and therefore cheapest alt, requires 64% of the Aether bucks that are given out for free, or half a year of the Aether bucks given out during the free pass events. Again, this is for one palette that was completely free in the first game and likely doesn’t even make them much revenue since more people are incline to get the more expensive skins, since bucks are sold in groups of 1000 minimum. This is not something that deserved to be in the shop, and I hope they consider fixing it in the future.

Meanwhile, having a coin shop rotation is simply anti consumer. When I grinded for hours to get enough coins for a single skin, I should be allowed to get it when I want and how I want. This is just making the f2p experience worse as to make paying more enticing, which should never be the business model, instead, they should make spending money more enticing by making it good on its own.

Better yet, completely get rid of coins, so it’s only the one shop, and give us more aether bucks to balance it out.

Helldivers 2 is the best example of how to do this, imo.
You can easily get all the currency you need by just playing the game at a decent rate, and if you can be bothered (I can't) then you can grind out easier missions and do it with no real trouble at all to get everything.

That's a game with a bigger team, bigger budget, bigger scope, bigger marketing costs etc., and for a comparable price point to this game.

Plus Rivals is missing some core features, primarily decent tutorials (extra disappointing because RoA 1 had great tutorials). This stuff should be in place before expecting players to put more money into your paid game.

I don't hate how this game is doing it, and I get it, but unless it gets significantly better I won't be enthusiastic about it.
I also realise this is the internet, and people don't budge on their opinions, but I think it's important to share opinions, especially when it's a small indie team and each voice counts for a lot more.

the black palettes cost 16k coins, which you can earn in like 10 hours of playing

sure you have to wait for them to show up in the shop, but the shop doesnt have repeat items so you'll end up grabbing them all pretty quickly

you dont have to buy everything in the store. saving your coins and bucks to focus on the 3-4 characters you like most will make your time with the game infinitely more enjoyable

I think we've a different idea of "very quickly". To me, that means 20 secs tops. :P

That said, rotating shops are trash, this one's also trash, get rid of the RNG rotation garbo and it'll be fine.

16k coins and 10 hours of playing for only one. According to you that’s then 100 hours of playing for every one on top of a rotating shop when they should be absolutely free.
