Question about modability
When this game releases or sometime after release, will there be some sort of SDK to create and upload new fighters to the workshop? These could be model replacements or just straight up new fighters or will modding not be available for this game?

Mod support won't be available day 1 at all, but the devs said that they are interested in doing it at some point. Their focus right now is making sure the base game is good.

It took Rivals 1 4 years until it got workshop support, so I'd imagine it's gonna be a similar case with this game. I do remember them saying that they're implementing stuff to the Rivals 2 engine that'll make it easier for them to add support for it down the line.

Based on the trailer I believe it's in Unity.

Nice. Came here to ask OP's question myself. Haven't been this hyped for a game in a very long time. I really like the workshop stuff, even if I have to wait about four years, plus however long it takes for the base game to be completed and put in the store.

I also hope that the Rivals community creates a modding tool outside of workshop just like what happened with rivals 1 where instead of having to enable workshop through the rules, you can just inject/check the mods into the game and that it's wifi safe

I hope they make it so that workshop items in rivals one autometicly work in rivals 2
Especially would be nice if u could just make a charicter with sprites and they would just be there in teh 3d world

It would be awesome if people create some alternate costumes for the characters. Hopefully the devs don't censor people's creations if they are too similar to costumes being sold in the shop, direct references to other video games, or a little too risque an outfit for their liking.

With Rivals 1 Workshop, I didn't see them attempting to remove anything there, so hopefully they'll be pretty lenient with the sequel here too.
