And for my desktop speakers, I switch that setting to "Bookshelf."
But, for what it's worth, I have noticed some audio balance issues that occur at random with waterfall edges, combat sounds, and birds chirping.
I might change my sample rate as well, which is something I needed to do for Forbidden West to avoid random "crackle" or cut-out.
Nixxes ports don't seem to like 32-bit / 384 Hz.
My guess is that the sound of the river was meant to be playing out of the Dualshock 5 controller, and that audio volume didn't translate well onto PC.
I would recommend switching your audio output settings in game as it has 5 choices and I feel as though the default (home cinema) is EQ'd for completely unrealistic room and monitor sizes
