I don't get it. Can someone explain?
I just checked my local video games store and saw that the physical copy of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is being sold for the same full price for the PS5 version, but I'm currently in a country that's been region-locked in purchasing this game on Steam.

Why can I legally buy the physical copy of this game for the PS5 while I couldn't on Steam? Why is the game allowed to be shipped to this country and be bought by local consumers while it's not allowed on the PC version?

Is there a law that's not allowing the PC ports with multiplayer features to be sold?

P.S. I'm in the Philippines

i wouldn't worry about it. just get the physical copy and enjoy the game bro, steam has just delisted the game in many countries because of a stupid flash mob crying about sony games on PC which has effected everyone else who just rather play and enjoy games like normal people

I think Sony is more lenient towards PSN accounts made through the console. Even if it's set to a different region (i.e. Singapore, in our case). And PS games are region locked (R3 in our case). Since Singapore is within R3 (Asia), you can play it with your account.

If Sony is interested in these now locked-out markets, I think it is possible that an edition will be available that is not bundled with legends.

However, rolling out something like this takes time.

i don't think they really cared tbh until the flash mob cult started crying about needing a PSN account for some sony games

id recommend not buying the game, if you can't have access to PSN account cuz Sony banned your country then most likely you going to be in trouble while trying to do multiplayer stuff or even trying to get updates.

Now you have to be sure that the ps5 physical version has ALL the data inside the discs, there should be a warning in the case telling ya if internet connection is required to download the rest of the game or ALL of it. Some games just include an exe and other small files kinda like "an installer" and you gonna need inet to download the game in your console, some other games come with all the required Data, like baldurs gate 3 for consoles, iirc ps5 is 2 discs and xbox 3 disc due all the massive data, over 100gb.

I'm not really sure, myself. I don't even know for sure if they'll be fine with PSN accounts set to a different region, but not made through the console.

i'm sure it was something that cared very little about like changing your country with a Microsoft account

Maybe. I would've liked to try linking a burner account, but then I just lost all privilege of buying the game here on Steam.

According to Steam support, and the Helldivers devs, the delisting from countries is a Sony decision. Steam and other storefronts are just implementing it, which has triggered the auto-refunds. The Sony line is that this was always intended for their games but they forgot to do it until now. Why it's different from consoles, I do not know.

AFAIK, there's no physical copy for the PC release. As for consoles, I already have it on my PS4.

Don't listen to any of the liars saying this is Steam doing it in response to Helldivers. Publishers are who decide where their games can be sold. Steam has made this abundantly clear to people who have been requesting refunds. And it's not just Steam doing refunds and delisting the game in our country and other regions. Epic and Greenmangaming are doing the same thing. This was Sony's decision, because they wanna get people on PC to make PSN accounts, maybe even get baited into paying for PS+ subscriptions. That, or they want us to keep buying their console, despite the fact that they don't even wanna add PSN coverage to the Philippines. So sure, you can get the game and the brick to play it with. But honestly, if you were waiting on this game to be on PC, don't let 'em sucker you into buying their other junk for just one game. There's other devs and publishers making good games worth supporting that don't ♥♥♥♥ on folks from our region like Sony does.
