The ? on the map doesn't show unless you've cleared the fog. The birds make it possible for you to find the cosmetics, haikus, foxes etc while they're still covered by the fog in the map. But i agree, they can get annoying.
They always lead somewhere. They just get stuck most of the time, specially in houses. They never lead nowhere.
So they don't just lead to the already marked locations but some that are not and won't ever be marked on the map. It would have been nice if they only were for those locations. Like the foxes only lead you to shrines, not every thing around it.
A lot of times, I'm heading towards a quest, see one of them birds, follow them thinking they're gonna lead me to a shrine or a bamboo strike I missed, and they take me to another quest.
I can't imagine having such a bad memory you don't even remember this bird making a noise.
Or being so stupid and devoid of all kind of nuance that you think something needs to be a life threatening issue before it's ok for people to complain.
Also so hypocritical and devoid of any kind of self awareness you don't even realize you're here complaining about a MUCH lesser problem.
the wind being your direction arrow is pretty nonsensical as everything is shown on the map 😃
They will often lead you to cosmetics not marked on the map at all. Headbands on arrows at the top of buildings, masks hanging inside houses, etc.
LOL, Thank you. This is the answer I was looking for. I just posted that I had figured this out a little bit ago here.
You're wrong. It makes perfect sense, because I don't want to have to open the map every two seconds.
