am i missing something, or does this game just suck?

idk man this game just seems really unfair and boring. tried it for the first time on normal difficulty and couldn't even be bothered finishing the first level.

is there some tutorial level that i missed? because the game just abruptly starts, no control hints or anything. i had to go into the settings just to figure out what the controls were.

and the gameplay just seems really slow and needlessly difficult? like you punch an enemy a few times, wait like 3 seconds for him to get back up, wait another 3 seconds after you inevitably get knocked down yourself, repeat a few times, die, repeat like 6 more times until you game over and are promptly kicked back to the level select screen. i feel like that one game journalist trying to play doom 2016.

i just don't get all the people hyping this game up as some "forgotten must-play gem", it isn't fun and just makes me feel like an idiot for constantly dying every time i try to play it.

As you play you gain levels and unlock new moves, so the game gets easier and more fun as you progress (although the leveling up is a bit slow, requiring some grinding, and each character needs to be leveled up separately). You also increase your stats by buying things in shops, although you won't know what stats are affected until after you buy them (unless you use a guide). It's quite similar to River City Ransom in terms of RPG elements.
