War thunder Steam version not launching at all.

HI,

So, the game was running normal yesterday, today when I hit the play button it doesn't launch the game I did validate the game files, I updated game, I restarted the machine and steam, I tried to run the game via proton 8.5. I don't know how or why this happened, I didn't update ubuntu, so nothing should have changed. The game is not running.

Steam support re saying the game isn't whitelisted?!

Any help is appreciated.

BTW other games are running fine.

Delete compatdata/<app_id> folder and try launching again

Thank you/. Didn't work sadly.. After deleting the file, it had to acquire 16 files, then same thing when I hit on PLAY the button become grey for a sec. and then green PLAY again.

to the right of the button it display 2 msgs come up "checking configuration" and "Launching executables". and then nothing. and then I see the button PLAY.. and I'm back to where I started.
