Steam for Linux

portal (beta) just came available for download
a great classic title from valve,, so no complaints, l4d2 is coming out just days from now too!

DO BE AWARE, however, that this is clearly marked as a beta; it is most definitely playable, but it should be no suprise to run into visual bugs. I already ran into strobing portals and a respawn point that constantly killed me. so make a list of bugs if you like, but no raging.

Just played and apparently on level 10 right when I was about to finish the level the game closed and it would load from the last saved spot. Would not be surprised if it has to do with me using ATI card.

I am not sure about the free part, I do own portal.
But I would not mind, if they do.
I will try it tomorrow.

So far, it's absolutely peachy. A minor graphical artefact in the elevator ceiling (strange blue haze before the light comes on) but it's basically good old Portal.

Am I right in thinking this is the first source Singleplayer game for Linux?

Play it on Windows, Mac, PS3, or XBox 360 and you'll have this same bug. There's a stream of light that the elevator moves along (even though you never see it in-game, 'dunno why they kept it in) and the effect clips with the elevator model.

11 levels into the game, no problems here.
