I guess you need to try to undo everything you’ve tweaked.
Did you tinker with it? If so, I'd suggest a factory reset.
Which games are you giving problems?
some way to reset steam deck well keeping all games installed on it???
spent over 21 hours of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of problems for the last 2 months
i just want to unupdated my deck to a workable state....
hardly use it now cause how hard it is to get anything working
i dont want to code my deck from the ground up.... just want to play games
Apologies - I missed you have deck.
Return to gaming mode and check the properties of the game you want to launch, it should autodect Proton and launch, if it does not, try with setting Experimental under compatibility

They even give recommendations to succeed in making each game work and it's just as good for Steam Deck and PC on Linux.
