Steam for Linux

Steam no longer remember my credentials
After a client update, I need to enter my username and password or scan the QR code every time I re-open Steam. Also, the setting to always use Big Picture mode no longer works.

Are the permissions correct for the directories steam uses? ~.local/share and the steam folders?

I don't know. In your opinion, would a Steam update change that?

Close Steam, open your file manager, depending on which DE you use pressing ctl+h on most (Nautilus, Dolphin, Thunar, etc) will cause the program to show hidden files (preceded by a dot, eg, .steam), rename the .steam directory (remove the dot, for example). Enter .local/share/ and do the same with the Steam directory (to something like steam_bak). Start Steam, it will recreate the .steam and .local/share/Steam directories (or rather directory and link). WARNING! You wont see any games!! Then CLOSE Steam again, copy or move .local/share/steam_bak/steamapps directory back to .local/share/Steam, overwrite what it needs, start Steam and verify your data is there. Close Steam and start it again to make sure your credentials are once again stored.

Yes, it is a chore, but is about the only way I've found to solve this particular annoyance, which in my case likes to show whenever someone else starts their Steam account on my Linux session

Didn't work. Also, there are some bugs with this Steam build. Besides the fact that Big Picture mode is not staying activate, it keep changing my Time Zone and thinks that I'm running on my Steam Deck:

Wanted to chime in that I'm having the exact same issue as OP.

Had some people on Discord who were having the same issues.

Looks like a build issue, then. Stable or beta client?
