Like every other package, you do install with root privileges.
I use a standard user account all the time (just a sudoer), but I can't seem to run it as that user.
I deleted my other comment to buy myself time to try this fix. (sorry)
I think that whatever steam hangs on isn't in the log.
I guess I didn't install from apt so purge doesn't work
Joking. But I am poking around a bit before I start slaying stuff
its gone.
I ran sudo apt-get install steam but now steam wont launch. I'll go find an install guide.
