*SOLVED* HALP I installed steam on root *SOLVED*

I was a bad boy when I installed steam. When I ran the installer instead of running it as sudo I escalated the terminal with sudo su and then installed it. I even "fixed" it to allow steam to run as root. I have been running it as root since... no big deal right? well the new vulnerability in steam got me thinking that maybe it wasn't such a good idea.

Can I install steam on my user account without uninstalling and reinstalling?

If I run as a standard user here is what I get:

yet another trolling attempt? your question makes no sence at all

You can uninstall and reinstall steam, but if you refer to your games library, you can simply first move them away from the /root directory to another location, but you will have to change perms, which I assume you know how to deal with, since you were bold enough to run Steam as root to begin with, then simply open steam as your regular user and add a separate library directory where you have space, move over the game data and allow Steam to discover it... if (and only if) done correctly, you won't need to check cache or reinstall any games (left blanks on purpose).

thetargos, I doubt he's having any issues with library and I doubt he's using root account (he's sudo'ing). there's only one way to install steam - with root privileges so it's false issue here. If you look at errors you'll see his video driver needs to be installed/updated and that's it to run his steam application.
basically he asks for advice on irrelevant things that's why I assumed trolling attempt

Since he stated 'sudo su' I assumed the same as' su -', hene pure root, and skipped the error messages (yeah, my bad). In any case, I didn't catch the distribution, but looking at it, seems it'scalled 'parrot' (seems bogus), but at any rate, indeed there are quite a bit of libGL errors.

steam have to be run as common user. start with creating common user if you don't have one.
as root

apt-get purge steam

then login into common user and install steam. if it will error for video again, check your x32 libraries availability for your distro and availability of video driver

Try to purge and reinstall Steam...
Like every other package, you do install with root privileges.

Thank you guys. I am trying thetargos' fix right now. If that doesn't work I will purge and install it right this time.

I use a standard user account all the time (just a sudoer), but I can't seem to run it as that user.

I deleted my other comment to buy myself time to try this fix. (sorry)

I ran sudo apt-get install steam but now steam wont launch. I'll go find an install guide.
