can't run hardware acceleration mode
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Whenever I installed proprietary Nvidia driver 430 and rebooted the system, it always goes to software rendering mode unless I typed sudo apt-purge nvidia* and revert back to open source driver.

I'm using Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1 64bit on UEFI motherboard.

I believe there is an issue right now with Ubuntu 18.04 running Nvidia 430 drivers. I seen Linux Mint 19.1 is based off 18.04 Ubuntu. I have seen reports of success with Ubuntu 19.04 though.

I tried to install the Nvidia 430 driver on Xubuntu 16.04. It resulted in a black screen boot.

Currently running the 418 without issue.

I've had no issues at all running the 430 drivers on 18.04.

You do have to purge the old drivers before installing the new ones if you're switching between branches.

Could you specify your exact hardware?

If you are running newer hardware have you tried the latest Beta drivers from nVidia's site or one of the nVidia proprietary driver PPAs.

Oh yea, I almost forgot about this thread. I've already switched to Ubuntu 19.04 and finally it work with nvidia 418 drivers.

Do you have older hardware?

Legacy nVidia cards will only work on 418 but not 430.

As a note, some legacy nVidia cards work better on the Open Source Mesa drivers.

12GB DDR3 1333mhz
GTX 1050
ASUS H81M-E motherboard

Is this hardware looks old enough?

Yeah, in fact that SHOULD run on the latest drivers.
