Laughing at the default button layout

Among some other issues I've been having (unsynced voices), I noticed something hilariously bad about the controls. In the first few minutes I asked myself "Why am I not moving?" until I looked at the controls and saw something like this:
Q - Move Left
W-Roll Forward
A- Map
Z-Move Forward
S- Move down (normal)
D- Move right (normal)
Even for default controls, that's pretty bad. So bad I think I laughed for a good ten minutes because no default controls for any PC game should be that bad

I managed to get the keybindings in a useable state for me, but what drives me crazy is that sprint is also action.

I want sprint on shift, and action on space or whatever, but you can't have alternate bindings. I would be totally fine with shift and space both being on sprint/action but you can only bind one key to a single action at a time.

It's pretty annoying.

It seems to me that's the way third-person action games are going now... Look at Mass Effect 2 & 3, for example.

It's the same for mine, and I didn't even touch any settings, opened it cuz I was wondering why on earth I was moving with WASD. Another person I know has this issue too, so it's not just us. I also un-installed then re-installed the whole game (yeah my internet is quite fast) again, but it was the same.

Dunno what's causing this, most people seem to have the normal controls. Now I know I could have just remapped, but my reasoning was that if this part was wrong with my game then there might be other things that were wonky too.

Maybe a special keyboard that gets detected as an AZERTY keyboard layout and not QWERTY?

Friend of mine who plays Killing Floor with a FR keyboard had a similar problem.

My default controls are the ones you listed for some insane reason, even after hitting reset defaults they default back to these...makes no sense.

My husaband's buttons were mapped horribly bad as well, he has to change them himself because the default is topsy turvy.

I had the same issue as the original post. The default controls are haywire and nonsensical. They were mapped exactly as the OP mentioned.

I had to manually change everything to something more common, WASD style etc.

I suspect this is related to regional issues and certain keyboard standards; they seem to have been made with an AZERTY keyboard in mind rather than the traditional QWERTY.

That's just weird, my friends and I are in Canada and are using perfectly normal keyboards with no other language. I know 2 other people in person that have this problem...

Yes, arguably. But RE6 is a whole different ball game when it comes to the controls. A controller is best and if anyone disagrees, I'd happily challenge them to a game of Onslaught.

What you be talking about? ALL games controll better on a 360 controller!

Sorry to necro this...yet without setting a proper wasd setup this is virtually unplayable for me, so how do I fix this issue, there is no way I am settling for the defaut as I have many thousands of hours in being used to traditional movement keys...even my PS3 pad I have to reconfigure for the right stick is the opposite of what it should be...I prefer mouse/KB so any assistence to get this working fast appreciated.

I fixed it easier by going into the INI file...seems mostly only Canadians have this strange messed up keyboard controls settings...it's good now though...all better. Great title.

i bit game twice with ada and leon.. default controlls... for hardest mode i will make some control tweaks cz there is very little space for mistakes xd
