Quake 4

Quake 4 or Quake 2
I'm trying to decide between the two because i'm looking for a good fast paced FPS with a decent story and a game that lets me run around and shoot stuff.

In my opinion, I liked Quake 2 more. Yet Quake 4 is a good game to.

Depends what kind of visual presentation of the story you're in for. A more movie like? Or more panel/text like? You can maybe guess which is which. If you're 15 years old and you hover after the public opinion, Quake 4 is probably going to be more graphically convincing. Quake 2 however had better level design in my opinion, as in more dead ends and passages kinda way, for a single player I prefer Quake 2 because it's more of an adventure than Quake 4. For a multiplayer I prefer Quake 4, physics are better and the crouch sliding thing is a good touch, makes it a lot faster than Quake 3. But, as said above it's VERY underrated as well as not supported by very active community. It's your taste, your pick.

And problem would be easily solved if you'd just buy every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Quake.

I'm probably going to go with Quake 2 because I'm also a classic fan as I still play MANY hours of Wolf3D and Dark Forces

quake 2 still has a very active user base. www.tastyspleen.net

most of us old school quakers didnt really care for the new flavor of quake 4.

you can also play a modified version of quake 3 online for free at www.quakelive.com

Yup, dynamic lights and deluxe mapping works wonders.

I loved Quake 4- finished it twice before I lost the disk. The bosses are just hard enough to enjoy without becoming despondent, and they mix up the gameplay so it doesn't become just a tedious corridor shooter.

You should have picked them all up during the summer sale! The entire Quake collection (minus Quake 4) was a great deal. I bought all the Quake games because the disks I have are from old Windows formats and no longer supported. I'm just a huge fan of Id Software since Wolf 3D (Didn't care much for the Commander Keen series).

Quake 4 was only 40% off during the most recent Summer Sale.

I liked the length of Quake 2, but it is somewhat outdated. Quake 4 was short, bit it had good action and graphics. I would so like to see them re-do Quake 2 with Quake 4's graphics. I hope someday that they remake all of the ID Classics with newer graphics - that's actually what John Carmack wants to do, according to one of his articles.

Theres a bunch of Quake1 and 2 remake mods with slightly more modern graphics available, done by the community. I'd prefer ID went to something new with some of that 'classic touch'. Btw If you like genuine remakes of classics I recommend the new Rise of the Triad.

Oh man, You, me, & SO many others. I would just love to play DOOM ][ with updated graphics. Don't change the general imagery or gameplay. Just make it look more up to date!!! Damn right i'd pay for that! I've been actually thinking how awesome that would be for years. Those were the days, the days of DOOM! Playing 4-way LAN's every weekend! LoL And other early titles by id too.. I have played some of the Quake variants & they're excellent.

I can't recommend about which one to buy as to the original post, Quake II or Quake IV. But, shoot man, they're so cheap now, why not get them both...
Cheers!
