Yep! There's still people that play online Quake 4, like me. One of my favorite servers to go on is the q4funhouse.com server because it gets several players once in a while. I could also start up my own server if I wanted to.

Cool! usually on which days and hours I could find people?

I dunno, it's been a while since I've gone on that server with other players on, and it was nighttime since I've last played with them so I don't really know if they'll get on again.

Coop would be great, is there something like open coop for doom 3? a mod specifically for coop?

I think there are co-op mods for Quake 4 as well, but I'm not really into them since I'm more of a deathmatch person.
