You sound like someone complaining about how they can't play their Xbox games on PS4 beacuse you swapped an Xbox for a PS4.
Except he's complaining that he can't play his PC games on PC. See the difference? lol
There are some actual games in steam that allow you to activate them if you have original retail cd-key. Such games as Arkham Asylum and Arkham City to name two.
It does have cd key; check "q4base\quake4key" directory of the game. CD key of the retail version cannot be activated on Steam though.

Btw, If you want to streamline your games to a common launch point (if you have Nvidia) you can always launch them from the GeForce Experience Application.
