1080p?
All the pics on the store page are 4:3, is there a way to get it to 16:9@ 1080p?

if you look here you will see the height and width change to your res and this works pretty sweet for graphics as well would reccomend

Thanks!

Actually, it is in the game, to set it to 1080p.

But....I have a weird issue, all the character textures look washed out, and no where near as good as what's shown on the store page.

Set it to Ultra quality, everything maxed out, and a lot of it looks like PS1 textures.

After playing a bit, it actually looks decent for it's age. Lower polycounts are not so good in some places, but the textures and lighting are good for a game from 2005.

Doom 3 (idtech4 what Quake 4 runs on also) made the last real big graphical jump games ever did receive anymore. You will never again have as big difference in graphical upgrading as you did with this. Was first game/engine to fully support realtime dynamic shadows and lighting and that coupled with proper bump/specularmaps meant it looked out of this world when it was first introduced and being compared to stuff like this[www.theisozone.com].

So, the extreme rise in system requirements must be going to high polycounts, physics, and generally larger environments to render. I play a lot of GTAV, the size and openess of the world is amazing.

Crysis was probably the biggest jump in graphics that there will ever be.

Wholeheartedly disagree. Reason is because Crysis simply just enhanced what D3 pretty much introduced and made the new standard.

Completely different game engines and art styles, but come on man... Disagree wholeheartedly? Just compare the two... Whether it just enhanced things or not, it "enhanced" massively, utilized new technology (god rays, ambient occlusion, tessellation, DX10, advanced shading, real-time dynamic lighting, PSAS animation system, ocean water effects, etc.) and it was completely open world with a crazy draw distance (at the time) and destructible buildings/environment, in a matter of two years and no game compared to it for many years.

Doom 3 is still the biggest leap in graphics IMO. It was a fundamental change with new technologies. Crysis is the biggest expansion in graphics, though. Much of what Crysis did was iteration or implimentationt of what had been seen elsewhere, just pushed beyond boundaries of convention for its time.
