Denuvo: WHY?
The game was cracked years ago. Everyone who wanted to pirate it has done so successfully, denuvo or not.
Why are we, the paying customers, punished with performance decreasing bloatware for ubisoft's mistakes?
This release is a chance to do things RIGHT. Don't waste it.

That's the thing; if you were going to pirate this title, you already did so more than a year ago. Because it's been cracked for multiple years.
So why is Denuvo still present? No more DLC is coming out that can be locked with it, and all the DLC has been cracked too.
I just want to play my games on Steam with all the normal features without running a damn VM for no reason whatsoever, UBISOFT ARE YOU LISTENING? OF COURSE NOT
From an environmental standpoint I wonder how many forests are forever gone to run PCs at 100% all the time for Ubisoft's garbage DRM that doesn't work.

Only the first release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla got cracked it had older denuvo that had known vulnerabilities, as of now there is no version with season pass dlc or ragnarok or latest updates that has been cracked they use newer denuvo on later versions and no one managed to crack this one, so somewhat makes sense to keep denuvo in.

The DLC cracks are not public or easily accessible and the more popular one is behind a paywall, but the fact remains that they have been cracked.
You could definitely make the point that this makes the standard edition the most common cracked version. Good comment!
Because they dont care about customers especially on Steam.
They wont spend resources on removing Denuvo from the game, they need the workforce to make their new (reskin) AC game.

Also it is not just Denuvo. Ubisoft is using VMProtect on top of Denuvo, it is a multilayer DRM system (Ubi connect+denuvo+vmp) and it is eating cpu-s.

Just never give money to this company.

This is the worst part of it, absolutely. Awful way to treat consumers!
How much must Ubisoft hurt the environment with wasted power?!

Get a better PC. I have no problem with Denuvo effecting performance. Upgrade your toaster.

There's a non negligible consideration that some fraction of the industry is using Denuvo as a way to artificially add planned obsolescence to their games, which is all the more deplorable that building a product to fail is an actual engineering design consideration injected by marketing and not a conspiracy theory. When producers of durable goods must compete with previous generations of their own products, firms can engage in planned obsolescence to limit the scope of this competition. This tends to be confirmed by publishers keeping Denuvo in their games when it has been available to pirates for years making the customer the only likely target of the middleware.

Ubisoft, for instance, recently tried to effectively remove games from their customer's library before quickly walking it back as a "misunderstanding" when put in front of a quickly rising backlash. Meanwhile SEGA kept Denuvo on several games for which they (mistakenly?) released the Denuvo-free executable themselves, meaning there's factually zero piracy prevented while they seemingly still pay for the middleware's recurrent fees. :clickbutton:

this game's already been hacked and can be downloaded from torrents for free and now they are gonna piss me off with Denuvo causing performance issues, nice job Ubi, I never purchased anything on Uplay and never will

Ubisoft's idea of "updates" seems to be removing games and DLC from users libraries altogether...[www.giantfreakinrobot.com] instead of removing online DRM so I'm not sure what kind of incentive buying an up-to-date legitimate copy can well be in this context?

Valve's CEO said more than once that Piracy is a service problem and Ubisoft is going to great lengths to prove that statement it seems. :happyotus:

Updates from Ubisoft are usually a bad thing, not a good thing. I can't think of one game apart from Siege where any bugs were fixed at all post-launch.
