Anyone else have this crash to desktop?
Despite all the possible errors I've seen people have, I havent had any of those. I got several games finished without any issue at all even.
THEN suddenly, every game I try now has the same issue. I get several colonies founded into a game, and then I try and move a random unit (could be a scout, a rover, a colony pod, a native worm or even an alien artefact) and the moment the green line shows up to show where I am moving it to (as I drag by mouse), the game crashes to desktop with no errors whatsoever.
This has nothing to do with any movies playing, it only happens when I am moving a unit. Its random as to which unit I am moving before the crash happens, its also random when it happens (but seems to be after I've had several colonies founded)
What is most weird is I had several games completed already with no issues at all, before THIS crash began occurring. And I have no clues as to why its happening.
Anyone else have anything similar or any idea what might be happening and how I can stop it? I'd really liked to play this game, I havent played it since I was in highschool more than 20 years ago.

edit to add: Verified files and no change. Reinstalled fully, and no change. If anything, the crash to desktop without any kind of popup, is happening EARLIER than it used to.

second edit: YEP its mouse related for some reason. The game plays just fine if my units are moved only via keyboard, though I can use the mouse to click options or the cities or even click on units. Just movement has to be keyboard. one square at a time. YAY!. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm having this same issue as well. Surely there must be a fix for this as I know for a fact that this game supported the use of a mouse back in the day.

Change compatibility settings to something like the following:-

run Windows Vista
disable onscreen optimisation
run as administrator

As I recall mine used to crash, and doesn't, and that's what I've done.
