It runs perfectly fine but be aware that, because this isn't a remaster, modern resolutions are forced, making it difficult, if not impossible, to switch windows while playing. Not a deal breaker to be sure, but worth mentioning.

Seems to violently hate 4k monitors, can't even play the intro videos unless you force the desktop monitor resolution to 1920*1080 or what have you. The Gog version seems like it works better comparatively though maybe I'm just forgetting I applied a resolution patch or something to it.

Steam overlay is not compatible with legacy 256 palette color modes. As far as PC technology goes, this is really bronze age technology stuff and can only be made possible by completely bypassing Windows' DirectX graphics pipeline, which Steam relies on for its overlay.
