WTF? No local coop (split screen) in Far Cry 3?
The Steam page for Far Cry 3 no longer indicates that it will have split screen -- it previously stated that there was a split screen mode in the description. The Steam page also stated "local-coop" on the right hand side.

The developers stated in an interview (here[www.co-optimus.com]) that, "we’re supporting two player split screen on all three platforms – PC, PS3 and XBOX 360."

Bad move on Ubisoft's/Massive's part if they decide last minute to cut this feature out of the PC version. It's a no-buy for me if they really do choose to exclude split-screen.

How does one go about putting split screen on a PC game? More to the point, how does one USE split screen on a PC?

one person uses the keyboard and mouse and another uses a gamepad? Yeah, it looks like it won't have split-screen

My wife and I usually use 2 gamepads on split screen games for the PC, but in some games (e.g., left 4 dead or serious sam 3), I'll opt for keyboard/mouse input and she'll use a gamepad. More specifically I'll use a splitfish frag fx for left hand controls (in conjunction with Xpadder) and a wireless Logitech M570 (trackball) for mouse control. It's a great configuration if you're playing PC games from the couch.

Our HTPC is hooked up to a 57" LED HDTV, not a small computer monitor.

Wherever i looked, it said Split Screen on every platform!
I would have bought the game on PS3 but i prefered PC since it was supposed to have split screen. But no, nothing !!!!

Now what? Buy the game on both platforms? Or will they enable it some time soon?

@RalphRoberts I play with my brodther and/or my girlfriend. And PC splitscreen is pretty much like on the consoles

Ah, you missed the glorious gaming days of the 1980s and 1990s! ;) But, to be honest, I never enjoyed splitscreen even then and I ended up buying a second gaming computer in the mid 90s so that I could play DOOM with friends over a LAN (well, sort-of-LAN, via a serial cable).

But yes, one person would typically use a keyboard and the other player a joystick. In the 8/16-bit days, home computers also frequently had two joystick ports or supported splitters so that both players could use a joystick (did this when I played with friends in the Amstrad and Atari ST era). Same as with consoles.
Ah, i see, I am relatively new to PC gaming, so I was unaware that was possible.
PC has the possibility of two screen instead of split screens :>! Shame not many devs takes advantage of the technology.

Indeed you are right. The store description went from this:
PLAY WITH FRIENDS IN A FULL CO-OP CAMPAIGN
Play online or split screen and team up in a four-player campaign which challenges you to be your best and work together to prevail. Experience the island through the eyes of a wayward crew in their own quest to survive against the odds.

I didn't even realise that PC games could use split-screen. In this case, however, it just seems wrong to state the game will have local co-op in all versions and then take it away for the PC. Someone at some point must of said "Ok, notify all the sellers of the game, we are not offering local co-op, but don't let the media realise or we'll lose sales". Just like how Bestheda put out a broken game to PS3 players, it just means that people don't pre-order anymore and they lose money.
Maybe this will get their attention. Muahahaha.

I would say yes, you are absolutely entitled to a refund. The Steam page stated it had split-screen, you bought it believing it had split-screen, and now it turns out it doesn't have split-screen.

Not providing a refund would be nothing short of criminal. I'm guessing it won't be an issue, but if for some reason you don't receive a refund, file an official complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I was definitely going to get this game. Now I'll probably just go "fishing for a rogue copy".

Also,

What a ♥♥♥♥ move.

In fact, the last trailer here on Steam shows splitscreen footage :S
If they really removed it and it's not a typo in the description, they really screw this up.
Yea, PC gamers aren't really 'to that point' yet where they really understand their gaming platform. Expect a lot of resistance when advocating this feature.
