okay how do i master the new S.A.S module?
i know there have been some changes but i didnt really pay attention to the threads so how can i use the s.a.s modules so that my ships dont spin out of control? because they don't do a good job about keeping the ship straght while in the apmispear (yay bad spelling)

You no longer need an SAS module at all, but spreading them around in strategic locations gives your ship more torque it can use to stabilise itself. The new system requires a bit more input than the old one (you'll have to try and control your sip yourself to some degree instead of just pointing it up and letting go of the controls) but it does work.

I gather that there are some SAS improvements on the table for a future update, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just do your best :)

but it's just horrible! every time i try to somewhat shift my rocket in the aphosmisspear it will start servearly leaning and nothing i do can fix that!
Fire and Glory 10 AGO 2013 a las 3:05 a. m.
maybe it's my rocket i don't know but every other rocket in the last version would servearly lean to unless i turn ASAS on(ps i forgot to mention that i actully use ASAS or at least i used to before they changed the name)

If your ship is veering out of control, add a few more reaction wheels. They now need power, you run out of power, you lose control.

i think i know why i no longer played this after update and it's less veering out of control as it is leaning uncontrolably and THEN veering out of control

i give up i'm now gonna start playing dwarf fortress again

First, make a nice symmetric ship .. add some fins around the bottom or mid stages that you won't be discarding immediately, put a monopropellant container anywhere on the ship, then four or more RCS thrusters around the other edge of the ship (probably somewhere near the top.) ..I like to add three or four reaction wheels, placed similarly to the RCS thrusters, to give a little stabilisation-torque. (The wheels especially help for the moon landing.)

I still add the big ASAS ring below the capsule. I'm not sure if I need that any more. {shrugs} ..The new logic definitely isn't as aggressive as the old system, so you have to get used to that.

When launching, turn on the RCS, turn on the SAS, throttle-up, and launch. When you fire-up a new set of rockets, don't be at full throttle. ..Take a couple of seconds to get up to full throttle, if you need it. (some of my big sets of thrusters seem to start my ship spinning if I don't do that.) ..When I reach 10,000 I tilt to the right to 45 degrees, at around 40,000 I tilt over to 90 degrees. That's about all I have to do. Works pretty well for me.

If it spins out of control, I've usually got some thrusters hitting a fin, or other control surface, or something.

{shrugs} ..That's what I do. Not sure if any of that helps.

Show us a screenshot of your ship and we'll probably be able to help, there could be a problem with the design.

make sue your boosters are strutted to your main ship or it will spin, lock gimbals on all outside engines when launching

If your ship is veering out of control, that means it's out of balance. I really like the new SAS, it's easier to control ships and dock, provided I design the ship to have balanced mass and thrust vectors. In the VAB, check your center-of-mass, center-of-thrust, make sure they are dead-center (radially). Don't use SAS to compensate for less-than-optimal design, is my advice.

how do you make a screen shot?

Try the Kerbal X and see if it flies properly. If it does, then it is your rocket design. If it does not, then it may be a corrupt game file. I had to delete all saves and local data and do a clean install. This fixed the severe control issues I had with the stock Kerbal X after the update. At first I thought it was just not using the new SAS properly but it turns out that this was not the source of the control problem for me.

Neither of these are actually neccessary for a good launch. Same as a comment saying use RCS on launch. Nope..... If you're using it, design is wrong.

Not sure about others but I stopped putting any "SAS" modules on any ship regardless of payload including wheels and ASAS. I don't even use winglets. The new SAS is supposed to use all these wheels & control surfaces etc. and yet my flights are now better without any of them.

Try it.

Sohei is quite right. If you can't fly the stock Kerbal X it ain't the game. External issues are involved.

A good test. Fly vertical with SAS on. Do not touch controls except to stage. A good rocket should go straight up until you can go no further.
