Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

Console Command/Drop or Quit to Desktop
Since the .21 update my game has been taxed with horrible load time. I usually don't mind, but the fact that I have to go through so many phases of exiting the game (flight-space station-menu-desktop) I would really like to see the abilty to drop console with ~ so as to utilize qqq and quit strait to the desktop. Or i could see a 'Quit to Desktop' button implimented if console commands aren't applicable. Right now I have nearly 300 hours recorded for play time, where the fact of it is that I only have played about half of that time because I don't want to deal with exiting and re-entering the game due to the load time. I leave the game running and come back to it after a few hours. It's not a big game changer and I'll still play the ♥♥♥♥ out of Kerbal, but it would streamline the exiting procces.

Yeah, sorta agree here. Exit space to space center, exit space center to main and then exit from main.

It's not really an issue but I know when meal time is called, I've started asking for a 5 minute warning :)
Yeah, I think the Devs will most likely work a Quit to Windows menu button that requires comformation to truly close the game, just in case you misclick. But I believe that for Development purposes, having the ability to revert flights, or any action to just back up a reasonably close time ago, is better so they can test changes quickly without having to continue reloading everything, so they focused on that feature first.

Of course you can always Alt-F4 or close the application as well for now, because most of the time the game's autosave features will keep track of everything going on.

This. The game saves when you get to another screen or at least it always does on my PC so I just go to the space station so that it saves my state and press ALT+F4.

No problems here and I've been using this method from 0.20 onwards.
Windows has come with the ability to close programs for decades. It's called Alt F4.
