Suggestion: Landing inflatables
On the real life mars landers, they use inflatable balloons that shield your lander from impact. It'd be really nice to see this added in since it's incredibly hard to land a base right now.

I'd also like to see the ability to part build a space construction port. You can dock to the station and recieve needed materials to eventually have all construction done from the construction port.

The orbital construction system can be emulated with mobile launch pads, but both features would be great stock.
Also, having a reason to go to other planets is a much needed step. Having helium 3 or gold or whatever the objective is on the planet could bring a new gameplay element. The player could have the ability to land a colony down on a planet and mine enough fuel to send cargo vessels into space. Eventually, there would be a finite number of resources and eventually the player would have to conquer new solar systems.

Exactly, right now the community has made it but it'd be a great thing to implement into future builds.

I changed it cause I realized my error.
But yeah, I want that too. I wanna see what my Enterprise D mod can do in a galaxy wide map. Right now it's too fast for 1 solar system: I got up to 1500000m/s XD

Use a skycrane? They were used on Mars mission too.
That too. We should be able to have a large skycrane prefab with the correct angles for the thrusters. Right now getting those 45 degree angles involves some work.

Well, I can obviously tell you've been playing alot of games like that, but there are plans for nasa to launch hot air balloons to uranus or some other profanity or planet.
EDIT: the balloons are meant to harvest tritium.

I did this realy cool wierd thing: sent a kethane rig to jool, that's right, jool. use a combonation of parachutes and thrusters you can mine more fuel than you use and fuel back out after a moderate amount of time back to a space station or something.
