No joke basically a mobile KSP. So to everyone who previously stated it couldn’t happen, think again. To those who said check out SimpleRockets 1, thank you, as it was players such as myself who were in touch with the devs and got them the idea to do what others thought couldn’t be done. KSP can still come to mobile IF the devs here ever decided to get around to it, but who knows. But for those other space fans who wish to have that experience who didn’t know about SR2, you have that chance now ^_^
2: It was never about whether it was possible, just whether it is a good idea.
The controls on mobile games never work as well as a fully-fledged KB/M or even a Gamepad. Games of this scale deserve to have their attention focused on the better medium, rather than bringing it to every medium available.
I get the desire, I do. But what do you want the devs focusing on? A better KSP, or a mobile KSP?
KSP2 is in development by a different company, meanwhile the devs of KSP are still working on the original but most of the stuff they’ve been adding lately is fan created. So I’d say it’s a good idea for market expansion. Bigger market = more funds for development = better game.
Yes I’m well aware. But it’s the closest we will get at the moment since it’s the only one with the same gameplay, but on a mobile platform. It’s not 2D either.
In terms of market expansion? That's not really gonna happen. Mobile gamers aren't going to be drawn in. People who play PC would also play on mobile. They aren't going about this in a "milk it dry" sort of way, and I'm happy with that.
It just seems like more of a development nightmare than it is worth to this community.
Also RE: SR2
The scale of the planets and solar system is even smaller than KSP, parts are procedural which means there's no where near as many calculations to be done to see if things are colliding, docking or in motion. And if i recall the physics system is simplifed even compared to the patched conics approximation KSP uses.
So no; SR2 isn't KSP on mobile. It's a very tightly optimized game that understands the limitations of mobile CPU's and works within them. Which is all fine and good; it's awesome that it's out there.
But it's by no means KSP; or "Proof" that KSP could be on a tablet. The closest you'll get is using a surface machine, but those low power chips will massively limit the complexity of your craft.
Who’s laughing now? People said KSP can’t come to mobile, Juno (SR2) proved you all wrong lmao.
