how do I escape earth's gravity?
I just bought the game, and now that I managed to learn how not to crash, my next objective is to break free from earth and expirence the ultimate freedom! I don't wanna learn how to orbit or land on the moon, I just wanna escape earth! It seems impossiable, the highest I ever reached is 622,000 meters but earth always pulls me back.

i learned through trial an error that 2 booster rocket stages = exactly 1 large (black and white) liquid fuel engine. so i had 4 boosters tiers, two would burn per liquid fuel, and then drop them off in the next stage. adjusting throttle will make it exact, and you wont lose much speed inbetween stages. So far ive orbited the mun, but never landed sucessfully. either ran out of fuel or my engine was too weak to slow me down enough. that was the demo though, now that i bought the sale, im boggled as how to build a space station. im loving this game though, i was put off by the cartoonish aliens at first, had no idea it was a space ship construction/flight sim!

Sounds like you're just burning straight up and not actually making a circular orbit.

You need to build a multi-stage rocket (which i guess you've done) and burn to about 10,000m (stay under 200m/s). At 10km turn 45 degrees east and burn full throttle. Watch your map and check your apoapsis.
When it hits 70km+ you're in space. for your first orbit I'd say try to hit 100km and cut all throttle (press X) , warp to about 30 seconds before apoapsis and then burn full throttle facing prograde. Watch the map again and wait for the periapsis to reach above 70km.
After that you can cut throttle and you'll drift around Kerbin forever in orbit.

This is very basic and there are loads of videos and guides out there on how to orbit, but this should give you a basic outline. I strongly recommend looking up how to build a decent rocket and orbitam maneuvers, mechanics etc.
Who do you think you are, eh? A rocket scientist? lol

He is now.

at 10,000m lean over to 45% angle due east, its known as a gravity turn. You will burn less fuel not going straight up the whole way to space. Which you reach at 70,000m approx.

you mean kerbins gravity? LOTS and lots and lots of rockets and boosters, plus DONT GO STRAIGHT UP im mostly a plane builder but my planes can sometimes get at least 70,000 meters up

space station? i know how to do that, i just suck at docking, you bring up needed peices like battery sections, and solar pannel sections, docking hubs, fuel canisters for in orbit refuels, and maybe some rovers to attach to landers :P

It's kerbin... Don't worry you will get there but 622 kilometers is a little high for a normal orbit but it at about 200k 150k is what i do

Yeah. IT is a lot of trail and error to get things right. Try the games main forums: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum.php?s=8ac3385e08e6864d0ad039688e5e3551

You will get a lot of help there then here at times. Remember this game is still in developement too.

not that very high, Geostationary orbit is 2,846,000 meters

This makes me wonder if its possible to build (and time) a rocket for a direct burn to the mun. Though I imagine you'll need to orbit the mun before trying to land... unless we're just launching missles at the mun!

Actually, if you launch at the right time it is possible to go straight out and land on the Mun without even orbiting once. Basically, fire a missile at the Mun, but slow down a bit before you hit the surface. :P It is not very effcient at all, but is a pretty cool challenge to do.

I've actually launched straight up and got to the moon multiple times. But if you don't try to orbit it first it, "landing" can be a bit sketchy...

Orbit or bust in most cases...

I also think asparagus staging is worth a mention here as I've found it exceptionally useful!

Yup. It's great for heavy loads.

Yes, I just discovered it today and it was amazing, I think I started to understand how this game works; have fuel as long as possiable.
