How do i get a clean copy?
I have installed so many mods and i figured that it would be easier just re-installing it but when i re-install it the mods are still there :/

Delete the KSP Folder in Steam then reinstall

Steam/SteamApps/Common/ => delete the KSP Folder here

your first reinstall has not overwrite your mods and now you have conflicts therefore your need first to delete the whole folder.

after reinstall make a copy of your KSP Folder than you always have a clean copy.

The game will always be in your library, whether its installed or not.. So any time you want a clean install on a game you have modded, or for any other reason, just uninstall the game as usual. Then go to the steam folder as White_Dwarf described, and delete any leftover files.

"Steam/SteamApps/Common/ => delete the KSP Folder here"

Once you have deleted any leftovers, then its completely uninstalled. (When you uninstall a game, it doesnt remove custom files or mods, that must be removed manually)

In your steam library you can find all your games that you own. Find KSP and install a clean copy, just right click and choose "install game".

You don't need to delete KSP, just the mods. Go into the KSP folder and delete every mod. When you launch the game it will automatically download all of the default mods.

WAY faster then reinstalling the entire game.

Not so fast if you're using lots of mods and/or mods that overwrite the stock parts. Some mods add more than 20 parts in a single mod pack. It's better to just nuke the thing and start from a clean copy unless you have a monthly bandwidth limit or something.

who has a monthly bandwidth limit? ;)

yah nuke n pave is best way, however id suggest doing the steam uninstall first, never know with how finicky steam is weither its gonna freak out if you delete a game it still thinks you have...lol

delete via steam(delete local - which is a joke btw) then go in and manually empty the KSP folder. then steam reinstall and hope you dont get error 41...hehehe ;)

finally for those who do have a bandwidth limit, setup steam to auto-offline mode for when internet is down, then with a clean KSP take the entire main DIR and put it into a zipfile n store that somewhere other then your KSP DIR.

@gxs: wheres this magical 20 parts mod? im lucky if i get 5 from the mods i seen...lol

someone should really suggest file compression for future KSP update, would really up the mods loads.

Steam games are tied to your account. You can't lose them... ever.

You should see the hoops I have to jump through to have one deleted from my account. I need to contact support and confirm my request twice and even get warned twice that this is irreversible. Now I don't bother with it any more because I just created a trash group and move that games there.

Well the bigger mods like KSPX (around 30 parts), KW Rocketry (67 parts), modular wheels (21 parts), Firespitter (around 30 parts),...

That makes no sense....

Option 1: Remove the entire game and re-download it via steam (2gb)
Option 2: Delete the entire parts and gamedata folders and then launch the game (~100mb)

One requires the ENTIRE game to be downloaded, one only downloads the default set of parts.

The game will automatically rebuild the parts/gamedata folders if you delete them and will automatically download all of the core parts for the game. This saves you from having to download the entire 2GB game again.

I mean, at the end of the day the game is small enough that both ways are fast, but if you want to quickly "reset" your parts folder to default all you need to do is delete it and it will refresh itself the next time you boot the game.
