Firstly I would like to say I am very new to this game and I am in love!! For the life of me I cannot find an answer online on "How to deploy the solar array". Any help for this silly noob would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can also set a key to open and close solar panels using an action group, if you have many panels.

Thank You Guys!! Sorry for the seemingly silly question.

Right click the Solar Array and select "Extend Panels".

All moving parts in KSP can be activated by right clicking them and selecting the action from a dropdown menu.

Holding down alt allows you to right click and select several parts simultaneously. You can transfer fuel from tanks and docked ships this way.

Left clicking on the doors of your command pods or the Kerbal avatar screens allow you to select which Kerbal to go on EVA.

On the bottom right of the screen where your Kerbal avatars are, you can hover your mouse over their screens and select IVA where you can get a nice cockpit view of your space travels.

Don't feel bad for simple questions documentation on the game is out there but sparse. Don't know how many Kermins I lost on EVA because I didn't know left shift/control was up and down thrust

Just giving specifics.

When you're in the VAB building, if you look to the top middle of the screen you'll also see "action groups," which allow you to set an action to a certain key. On the left, click the button you'd like to assign the action to, then click the device you'd like to control (solar panels, thruster, temp gauge, etc) and it'll give you an option on what action you want it to take.

Using an action group is also a very good way of toggling the gimbal of booster engines on/off. you generally want the gimballing left on for the central main engines only - gimballing on boosters creates lots of shake.

You can also use it to set up the 'abort' command to do something - such as decouple your capsule and at the same time activate the thrusters on your escape tower to pull it away from yet another rapidly exploding rocket (- see the Novapunch mod for escape towers)

I often set up one to turn off several RCS thrusters in the middle of my joint lander/command module craft so that I am only using the top and bottom RCS thrusters to move around when joined together. Then when separated I turn back on all the RCS thrusters. I usually use the brake command for that as that command is not ever useful.

theres an action group on the fly mod on the spaceport as well. i always forget to set mine up in the assembly area.

hope devs will fix that. Actually, we can't see action groups settings if not in VAB.
