Recovering crew?
How are you meant to recover the crew after they've ejected and are stranded on a different continent?

I....um.....I totally let them stay there.....like...on the Mun. For many realtime days.

I attempted a rescue once, but this happened...

Send out a recovery craft of some sort - air or land or something combined to pick um up.

Alternatively, go to the tracking station and select them from the list on the left then click the red X button to "terminate" them.

After landing on Kerbin, I just let them stay where they landed. There's no real point to bring them back to the space center, unless you aim the landing there.

You cant use them for future space missions. But as there is an endless supply of Kerbals with more and more strange sounding names it isnt a big deal. I think the least you could do is drop a base with a toilet and a pool table in there for them though, its only right.

Well, when you've landed back on Kerbin, just go to the tracking-center, press on the recover-button down in the left corner. Same place where you terminate them etc.

i have an airplaine design that will pick them up.
a 3-man cockpit with a hitchhiker container, one crew on takeoff means i can pull back 6 crew at a time.
there is enough fuel to travel half the planet, so if i aim for KSC, they are within return range, if not, i can send a fuel tank trough space to refuel it (kerbal attachement system).
aside from that, it has some rocket engines (airospikes) for a reusable takeoff boost, and parachutes at the back for extra braking: it lands on the runway from orbital speeds and takes off from halfway the dirt one with room to spare.

At first I didn't quite understand the answers in the posts above, then I saw the timestamps. This thread is OLD.

In 0.24 (and since quite some versions before) you can recover Kerbals all over Kerbin from the tracking center. You cannot recover Kerbals anywhere else. It's possible to send rescue missions (for further hints google rescue mission, rendezvous, docking), but since Eve is by far the most difficult planet to launch from, I'd say your best option is to leave him there and call him the first in the Eve colonization effort.

Hey, OP here, very surprised to see comments for this old thread of mine!

That's easier then, just do an orbital rendevous with him, same as you would around Kerbin (except bring a lot more fuel, for fairly obvious reasons!!)

I really wish the career missions would give you Kerbal's to save around other planets, that'd be great fun.
