Geostationary Orbit question
Hello everybody, I was wondering if there is a list of Geostationary orbits for Mun and all the other planets? I know the Geostationary orbit for Kerbin is 2,868.400 but have no idea about all the others. Im trying to set up a Geostationary Relay Network.

Geosynchronousorbit of Moho is at an altitude of 30,992.300 km above Moho.

Geosynchronous orbit of Eve is at an altitude of 10,373.195 km above Eve.

Geosynchronousorbit of Duna is at an altitude of 2,862.702 km above Duna.

Geosynchronous orbit of Kerbal is at an altitude of 2,868.4 km above Kerbin.

Geosynchronous orbit of Jool is at an altitude of about 7,000? km above Jool.

Wow, thanks just what I needed.

Mun's Geosynchronous orbit is outside of it's gravity well.

This is no longer true

Actaually, all of (黑暗)I'mPregnant's figures are wrong, some by a small fraction, some (Moho, Jool) are quite a way off.

This wiki page[wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com] lists them all. For Moho, Mun, Ike and all of Jool's moons, they are outside the planets or moon's sphere of influence, and for Duna, it's at Ike's orbit.

Okay so if Pregnants number are incorrect.. and drex7773 states that Muns GS orbit is no longer out of the gravity influance.. yet the wikki page states that it is.. which information is correct.. is the wikki old data from a previous version??

LOL, drex7773, you had to dig deep to find this, year and a half old, post. LOL. But to say it's no longer true without any ref. to back your statement says nothing. Now, I dont know if your right or not. All I know is that 11/2 yrs ago that 2868.4 km was right for Kerbin Geosynchronous orbit. As for Mun, I never tried due to almost after every update you have to start the game over and I no longer use the mod that needed a GS relay network. With that said, RedLightning, I think you should go with Rene's link or you or someone can do the math. The formula for calculating the radius of a geostationary orbit is R = ((GM period^2)/4 * pi^2))^(1/3). I suggest you use a scientific calculator. lol.....You can find the GM in the Parameters window in the Tracking Station for the Mun. Provided that thats what the GM means...could mean gigametre...not sure...lol. Id try to figure it out myself but I have not done this type of math in 4 decades...lol and I lost my Texas Ints. Scientific Calculator like 3 decades ago. Anyway, I know thats Kerbins SOI is 84,159 km and Mun's SOI is 2,430 km as listed also in the Tracking Station Parameters window. Or, you could goto the KSP web and look at all the upgrades going back 11/2 yrs ago to date and see if they changed any planets or moons specs and if not Rene's link for other formula or goof//wbg link would be the best to go by.....good luck

lol.. I still have a TI scientific calculator with a semi large LCD. :) Loved how it charted math problems out graphically. I am no good at math either.. probably why I use mechjeb.. I love the design aspect of this game more than the scientific side.. reminds me of a lego set that actually works..

I was curious about this post because I looked up what Geosyncronous.. and I quite like the idea of doing that :)

Thanks for your informative input on the matter. :) I'll probably have to cave one day and learn all the scientific aspects of this "game"

My buddy gifted me KSP a few weeks ago.. and I've already sunk 300+ hours into it :)

Funny when I played the demo a while back, it did not seem all that interesting... but I was like, well I just got it for a gift .. I'll sink some time into it.

Skyrim, at least for me.. got boring and repetative after about 80 hours.. Then I lost my savegame.. have not really played it since.

Its not really KSP that is amazing if you ask me... as, out of the box, there really is not much content.. its the MODDING aspect that keeps this and skyrim interesting. at least for me.

EDIT.. its a great concept.. rocket Legos.. with a semi interesting box of parts. :) I cannot wait to see what they do with it when its finally at 1.0+

Yes Mods...thats the key where you can make the game into whatever you want. Yes Skyrim without mods is very boring.

Edit...KSP may never get to 1.0+ in my lifetime but I dont care as long as it keeps getting better......When I first got KSP it would crash every time I would relaunch a ship but now it runs perfectly...My computer is almost as old as I am...lol
