Hover over the picture of your kerbal and click EVA

To exit your ship, hover your mouse over your portrait (bottom right) and click EVA, thats to get out, IVA is to look inside.

If you press IVA to look inside, press C to look outside again, or V to cycle through your Kerbal's views, to switch between controlling your three Kerbals use, the [ and ] keys.

When you are on your grab-rails outside your ship, Space bar is to let go, and F is to grab hold.

After you get a Kerbal out control is focused on that kerbal only to get control of the ship after that or another kerbal you have to hit ESC on your keyboard and use the tracking station to select your ship again.

Dont feel silly. There is no manual and this community and the website forum is here to help all of us enjoy the same game that we love. And we who have some knowledge already from hard worn experience and many Kerbal deaths, love helping others who are new to the game. I am personally still learning lots from the forums every day.
thanks for the useful information and support this game is really wicked fun simple yet deep i am constantly learning new things that i can do

just be careful in space.. my first EVA was tragic. Was way up in space, Kerbal got out and let go of his pod only to watch it speed away while he just floated there.. lol

Oh almost forgot, press R to use your jetpack, and Ctrl/Shift to move up or down, not knowing that killed me once as i got further and further away from my ship lol :) U will turn on your ships lights, L will turn on the lights on your helmet.
