Kerbal Space Program

Why does my ship go into a mad spin ?
I'm in a steady 800 km orbit ASAS is on, thrusters off.
As soon as i disable ASAS to prepare for a maneuver, the ship goes into a mad spin beyond control. I'm in deep space here, with no force, except the gravitational pull from Kerbin, affecting the ship, so this should be impossible.

Not a complicated ship, just a basic lander with a pod, parachute, ASAS, fuel tank, engine and tripod landing struts.

BTW I'm playing the demo. Just wondering if it's a bug or a known issue.

Any chance you can post a screenshot of it?

Just killed the flight :-(
But I did save the ship design.
I'll grab a vid of it if I can replicate it.

One thing, if you have RCS on and ASAS on and the condition are right, it will burn the RCS thrusters seemingly randomly trying to correct a prospective issue. IF you are in a stable orbit with ASAS on and no RCS, then you should only rotate slowly as you go around the orb you're orbiting.

edit: and thats more of a tumble....

Now this is getting funny.....I just tried to recreate it.

Got the ship into orbit again. Control is very difficult, but I managed to activate ASAS to hit my mark for making orbit.

Now I wanted to correct the orbit and make it circular.
Turn off ASAS and the same happens again, slowly starting to rotate and picking up speed, making it impossible to control.

Then I noticed one of the landing struts break loose and fly away......
A lot of power in this spin yeah ?

BUT after the landing strut broke loose, I could assume full control of the ship with no problem at all. Didn't even have to activate ASAS.

But as of just now, poor Jebediah is orbiting Kerbin with broken landing gears.
Good thing I brought a shute, just in case :-)

I really need a picture of this thing to help.

I has to do with the ship design. 100% sure.
Moved the location of the landing struts just a little, and now the thing flies just right

ill tell you what it was for me is that i used 2 powerful engines in my rocket after i jetison the first section and ignite the second engione its too much too handle and went all over the place so try a less powerful engine so you kind of glide into space rather than smashing all the way through the atmosphere
