how do you go back to the last autosave

I lost one of my guys. Do I have to suck it up or can I set the game back to the last autosave somehow?

you can save using F5 then hold F9 to go back to the save

What JoshnPosh said. Best bet is to quicksave before hand. I do not know any way to pull up a previous autosave. The autosave is mostly to save progress incase the game crashes to desktop.

possibly hitting alt+f4 to quit will bypass the on-exit autosave (though apparently this only happens sometimes)

Never make use of quickload or quicksave. You must make manual saves using alt-f5 and alt-f9. If you mess up, like I just did, and quickload when you did not quicksave You will lose any ability to go back to revert to launch, space center, or VAB, your persistent.sfs will be overwritten with the a save identical to the old quicksave.
