Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

What is with the gravity on Eve?
So I land my space ship, go out and plant a flag, start running back, and start jumping, so I'm like a metre away from my spaceship and my Kermin Kerbin Kerbal thing dissapears into the ground!!!!!

This was my first successful mission to another planet!!!

What is wrong with this gravity, I mean you can't move fast, but I jumped and Bob supposedly "crashed into Eve's Surface and was destroyed" . . .

What is going on here???

Please help, is this a glitch, or something to consider on Eve, should I try going to another planet?

In map menu you can check all the planet data, with gravity, speed, etc.
Never went to Eve to help you out more.

Edit: Forgot to mention that you have to select a planet to view it's data.

Eve have a 4x or 5x (I don't really remember) bigger atmosphere then Kerbin, you don't want to know how many rovers I lost because they were only 1m in the air. so that means the planet pulls you 4x/5x times harder then Kerbin.

You should try going to Duna, I think that is a bit better for beginners.
It have a atmosphere too but much lesser then Kerbin.

Because acceleration due to gravity is a lot higher on eve, your poor little Kerbal was pulled iinto the surface with much more force than Kerbin etc so the fall was so strong it killed him. Also you're realistically never getting them home again, Eve is so hard to get into a stable orbit around because the atmosphere is so much thicker and the gravity is also higher

The atmosphere on Eva is thick enough that you could think of it as being almost fluid in the way it acts. Makes for VERY different flight mechanics than on Kerbin.

Eve is an extremely hard planet to land on. Its even harder to get off again. Probably the most dangerous and difficult planet in the game.Very thick atmosphere, and heavy gravity. You cannot jump on the surface, or use jetpack. So you must have a ladder that is reachable, to climb back into your lander. I think it requires a delta/V of 14,000m/s to escape from the surface. Thats alot. So basically its not a planet to land on, unless you consider the landing party expendable. Or you can try to design a craft able to do the job. (Good luck!)

Eve also has some known bugs because of the harsh physics and the game engines limitations. One is sinking into the ground.

Eve is perfect for Rovers though

In short, Rather High.

Nothing is wrong... Should every planet have either low gravity or gravity similar to Kerbin?? No.

Eve is known for having a very thick atmosphere due to incredibly high gravity. Many people enjoy the challenge of trying to land on Eve and leave to return to Kerbin. It's a shame you don't see it that way.

Concerning the falling and killing himself, Eva is high gravity... As in everything is heavier there, including the kerbals themselves and their suits.. It's a major physical feat just to walk there.. But don't trip, and trying to jump under that much gravity is not going to accomplsh much more than tripping, because the kerbal would be too heavy to get themselves off the ground more than a couple inches and when they come down, it would be like they are landing with 200 pounds of suit hanging off of them.. Fall over and the ground is going to come up a LOT faster and you are going to hit it a LOT harder than you would on Kerbin... What happened?.. The Kerbal tried to jump, tripped instead and ended up busting his helmet open when it hit the ground... He died in the name of catching a little air time.

I preformed an aerocapture in eve's atmosphere to put a probe into orbit, that was really fun xD. I tried to aerocapture the same style of probe in duna's atmo, but had way too much speed and the atmosphere doesn't get thick until you are very low on duna xD so we settled for a fly-by!
