Kerbal Space Program

KSP is getting slower and slower each time I run it
my computer runs every other game on max settings, gtx 670, amd 8-core, 8 gigs ram. for some reason though KSP keeps getting bogged down and the finally crashes for me (some of my ships are gigantic and must really confuse the game) but even smaller ships start to lag up.

Anyone have any recommendations? I've tried all sorts of resolutions and settings, they all seem to have the same amount of lag, and it's getting worse.

I have a crash report, anyone know where to send it?
It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure the consensus is that KSP has a leak. Restart should fix it. (I have same specs with an i7 incidentally and same issue)

0.23 may catch it.

Check the FAQ for details.
thanks for the response, restart definitely does not help. I shut my computer off every night and KSP slowing down has been happening for the past week

You adding mods?

Additional flights shouldn't be the issue because they don't load onto the grid unless you're there.

Someone has found that having alot persistant flights/debris slows down the game over time, so it might help to end the flight of some of these flights including flags, as those seems to cause lag as well.

Another issue could be that you have debris or ships in the physics range of the space center.
yea when ever I launch my ships / stations they are usually massive, i think you said you do the same, so i must go and delete all my debris from launch. and there is usually ALOT of debris. for example my last rocket weighed 2700 tons sitting on the launch pad. and its not even the biggest payload iv sent up there.

There is an option at the main screen to remove debris completely. Saves deleting them one by one.

hmmm, this sounds good to me but sometimes I bring multiple parts up at once and have to let them float around the station while i arrange other parts. will those get deleted if i switch craft?

thanks for all the advice, I'm looking around for this option to delete debris and can't seem to find it. I bet that probably is the issue, the past few rockets have had over 70 engines each... there is probably a ton of debris everywhere

Anything without a pod is considered debris by the game. I turned off debris in the menu long ago, because I tried designing to minimize debris and even made debris collectors, but in the end I was spending time working on debris instead of the mission. So, I turned it off, and haven't looked back.

Just slap a small .04 weight probbe pod on pieces you don't want deleted, or design with them needing a pod in mind.

Main menu / Settings / Max Persistent Debris << set to 0

Note also, option below it. Decrease physics and a lot of laggy/skippiness may also be reduced.
Pretty much the same problems, but my laptop is slow to start with :KSmiley:

thanks, will try that.
KSP is too slow? Needs moar boosters.
Seriously though, I hope you get this resolved soon. I'm not sure if someone's mentioned this before, but sometimes deleting parts you don't use can help. For example, moving all the spaceplane parts to an external folder would reduce the amount KSP has to load when starting.
