Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

No Sound/Audio?
I haven't played KSP in a while, and reinstalled it.

Started up the game and noticed there wasn't the main menu music, I checked in the Audio options, everything was on and as it usually is (because I never touch the audio settings).

So then I tried a Scenario to see if any sound was going to play, and again, no thrust burning, no background space music, no nothing. Not even explosions had noise.

So I tried checking the KSP folder, and click on the sounds folder, and found it empty.

I tried validating the integrity of cache doodly thing, and it only said 1 file failed to validate.

I rebooted the game to see if anything happened and, Nope.

So I re-downloaded the game, and I've just tried it yet again, the silence is still present.

So umm, any idea as to why I have no sound files at all? Even when I try re-downloading?

All of this is vanilla and I have zero mods installed, but I will plan on installing some when this problem is resolved.

Sound is located in "GameData/Squad/Sounds" subdirectory of KSP. The Sounds directory in the root of KSP is for legacy mods using old directory structure.

Are you playing it on Windows or other OS?

Alright, I actually found the problem, thanks for telling me the exact directory cause this made me think.

Windows for some odd reason was muting the KSP Sound, so it's all fixed now.

Thanks for your help! :angrytiger:
