Use CKAN.

You might need to install Mono. I am not sure if the UI is still broken on newest MacOS (there was some problem with Mono after an update). If yes, you might need to use the console: run
ckan consoleui
.

ah, I will look into it
idk if Mac's file system is like Linux's, but put your extracted mod's files in:
Home > .Steam > Steam > Steamapps > Common > KerbalSpaceProgram > GameDate
i manually install mod (most definently NOT because I can't figue out how to use CKAN on mac) You need to go into ksp onsteam, click manage, then browse local files, then put the mod into the "Gamedata" folder

osx (Now 'MacOS') is based of BSD - Berkeley systems Unix - which itself of course uses the Unix directory structure as does Linux.

So yes - they are almost identical file structure wise (though of course the filesystems are entirely different). Not entirely sure why you used > instead of just typing /home/.steam/Steamapps/Common/KerbalSpaceProgram/GameData but oh well.
The > operator is an output Redirection operation.
