Attaching Space plane to Rocket?
So basically, I've built a spaceshuttle in the Space Plane Hanger. What I actually want to be able to do is save my spaceshuttle, and then load it into the "Rocket Hanger", where I attach it to a rocket, upright, and then launch it as a regular rocket which I later on detach, and then use the space shuttle to actually fly into space.

Is there a way to do this? As far as I'm aware there isn't. I've looked at the Subassembly category, but I'm not really sure what to do with it...

Does anyone have any ideas?

(Oh, and I tried to build a spaceshuttle upright, but my brain couldn't handle it, so basically it failed.)

Take the entire thing except for the command module (they can't be saved on subassemblies), click on the 'subassemblies' tab and drag it to the Subassembly drop zone on the left pane.

Then go to the rocket hangar and import it.

So that's all there's to it? Huh... Well, thanks! Might try that out.

Thread hijack:

I'm trying to do the same.
Imported my command-module-less spaceplane.
While I was at it, I imported my big liquid fuel booster (with added solid fuel uber-booster)...

I cannot attach the two.
Every time I try, the only way I can attach them together is at the tops of both part: so I a space place (sans command module) INSIDE the booster pointing up - with no command mod at all, or I get a space plane pointing down at the top of the booster.

Where am I going wrong?
I want to make my own STS - big liquid tank (w/ rockets at the bottom - just because), with solid boosters strapped to the side, attached to the belly of the space plane.

Confused am I...

Rather than attaching the spaceplane to the rocket you should attach the rocket to the spaceplane. Do this while in the SPH and make sure thrust is balanced with mass for each stage. Then you can transfer the whole rig as a subassembly to a new cockpit in the VAB.

I can't wait until I get those parts unlocked again so I can try to make a space shuttle for this new system.

Open up the load menu and at the top click on the SPH category, then click on your spaceplane and click merge
