Selecting individual parts?

Is there any way to select parts indivdiually? I'm trying to select the solar array I've placed, but the game seems to always select the entire selection of parts I've created. It's really frustrating at times!

What's weird is that sometimes the game will select parts individually, but usually it'll just take a whole selection. What's up with this?

Some parts have really small hitboxes (a better word escapes me) that you have to click in order to select the part. I occasionally have this problem with struts. Also of note is that all ships have a tree-like structure, with the first part you place as the root. If you click a part, you'll also get all branched-off parts as a 'bonus'.

Yeah, I actually figured that out like five minutes ago! lol.
It's really odd. But I'm slowly getting used to the way these things work. It's a bit tricky at times!
