Naming your Ships
Normally you could change the name of your ship whenever you wanted to but since the las tupdate you type your ships name before selecting the command module and can't change the name after this. Whenever I make a new ship I dont enter the name untill im done but I cant change the name from 'Untitled Vessel' as soon as i select a command pod and always end up overwriting previous ships with the same name. Any way to stop this?

Name it something good the first time.

Dude you can definitely still change the ship name at any time. The only time the VAB saves the ship name is when you send it to the launch pad.

You can also rename the ship by right clicking the command pod on the launch pad or at any time and click rename!

When I make my ships I keep them untitled until they're finished and figure out a good name right before I click to launch it.

I have never had this problem. I change the name all the time. I often make copies as backups, at different stages of the build. So I can make several versions, with different load-outs. Some I add a buggy, others I add science gear, etc.

eg: Kerpollo 11, Kerpollo 11a, Kerpollo 11b, and so on..

That's how I've been naming several of my ships as of this latest career mode. A take on improving generations.

i have actually used a standard convention that i only recently became aware of
and that is all my ships have 2 names(final stage purpose)+(booster configuration)

so i would have
munlander-alpha+jumbobooster7x A2
joolprobe-beta+heavylifter10x A1
not the prettiest names but it helps alot when im looking for sepecific ships.

And?

OP's problem has surely been solved by now. Neat mod though, thanks for sharing. :)

and u think some others are not interested and it needs a new thread then?
Well, my first moon lander was named Hawk II. In relation to Apollo 11. (Yes i know, what has "Hawk 2" got to the Apollo craft?) Answer: I took it from the words used when they landed on the moon "The eagle has landed" I Didnt want to make it a complete rip-off.

So, i tend to come up with creative names based around the names we (Humans) gave our craft.

Ah, one of those people who ask a question by starting with a silly unrelated question. Are you just trying to stir up trouble?

First question: No, I think some people would love a thread about how you name your ships. :) There are probably a few already going for you to join in on.

Second question: Yes. It would be a great thread. Good idea Nowater.

That is a great naming system. =D
