Start with whatever you are wanting to mount multiple objects to. Here is a fuel tank.I add some of the small cubic octagonal struts.

Then rotate them up into the object.

This leaves new mount points for you to add things to. Here I added a cluster engines.

1. Press alt-f12 and enable part clipping
2. Connect an engine to the adapter and use the translation gizmo and slide it to where you want it placed.
3. when part clipping is enabled the attachment point will reappear and you can attach more engines.
So that is how he did it. I tried every which way I could think of except enabling part clipping. Nice to know, it was frustrating me trying to figure out.

By using a few gurders or even cubic struts you can attach anything you like below your new engine cluster. I just threw this together but you can see the gurders and a small decoupler. The struts and framework help support the top and prevent any sway.
Wide shot

** The decoulpler was moved down because of past issues with it causing damage when it is detached. So out of paranoia I move it under a gurder.
