50/50 sandbox and career, Sandbox for the explosion and dont worry about the costs of a insane rocket, and career to learn the mechanics better, because i dont want nobody to die.

Carrer! If you get the hang of it funds arent a problem and the dead kerbals stay dead - thing is just awsome. And i love to go on complicated missions without the abiulity to quicksave or revert. Wouldnt want to play sandbox or sience mode ONLY career. With the one exeption: If friends are over wich dont know kerbal and i wanna showcase, i play in sandbox because the explosions are a little more interesting for them then the look of my tongue biting face when i sit there focusing, not talking and desperatly trying to reach my goal.

Here's my advice - if you're a new player, play science mode. Managing funds I could honestly take or leave. Most of the missions are variations on a theme - explore this moon/planet, take this person here or there, conduct science missions at these various locations on this particulary moon/planet, rescue so and so from orbit, and test this part under circumstances that make little sense.

That said, I am playing career because I've been playing KSP for a long time and I'm eager to run through the whole thing. But Science Mode has been the most fun for me so far. I think this mode is the most rewarding aspect of the game.

Maybe some day when the missions are more varied and interesting I'll change my position on this, but for now, Science Mode gets my vote as the most fun of all the different modes.

I use sandbox mode to test parts and designs in a consequence free environment.

science is best for new players to learn as well. Career is for experienced players

for fun purposes sandbox
in career you will be more focused to make perfect rocket and not to lose it or money\kerbals and etc.

I used to play career mode because I like that there's a budget and HR management (and crew skills). However, I'm thinking about starting a new career game with maximum science points because I think the techtree is pretty silly (and no, don't say that mods can fix this. I can fix it easily by just giving me 5000 science so that I can unlock most of the required parts). I want to start the space program with unmanned probes, and most of the interesting parts are locked behind a sciencewall (haven't had time to go through the tree, but before the beta all the girders etc were on the far right. wut?). I don't want to grind science in Kerbin just so that I can finally launch my first actual rocket.

It's nice that we have choose how to play the game, and nobody can (or should) criticize if you play the game "the wrong way".

Gekkibi, play how ever you want BUT i just gotta promote my view here:
Carrer on Hard settings, sience to 100% and funds at 200% works pretty well, a few good missions and you got the money to crash some rockets and never get bankrupt. And if you use the "sience alert" -mod "grinding" sience is also pretty easy. Becaus it always tells you what experiment you can do right now. So you can orbit kerbin with a thermometer and get all the biomes and stuff. And if you prefer to start unmanned get yourself a techtree wich suits your needs and some contract packs aswell. The thing is i hate sience mode, because i want funds and dead kerbals and all the drama of career.
BUT thats my opinion i just had to state it here you play how you like it. Just wanted to show a fun way i played bevore and enjoyed it.

Since this is a long text, and i probably made a dozend misstakes; please excuse my bad english im not a nytive speaker. chears :KOh:

Career for rockets, sandbox for planes. Well, once nuFAR is out at least. Atm its pretty much career only.

I've only been playing a week, and I've played sandbox almost exclusively. I freaking love the freedom. It is like I am 1 year old again with a set of blocks and can do any damned thing I want with them. Words can not express the satisfaction when I finally got two ships to dock, or Kerbie walking around the Mun.

I'm sure I'll explore the others later, but for now: SANDBOX!!

When i was new to ksp there was no career, and it was a hell lot of fun! But after a few hopures it gets boring if you have no goal youre trying to achieve. And thats the point when youll probably switch to career.

Ah, but you do have goals in the sandbox mode (you just set the goals yourself). It's just that there are no restrictions. ;)

The thing that stopped me from playing sandbox (exept for going mad at rocket size and crashing and doing fun stuff i cant afford to do in carreer) was that i have everything unlocked, so a mun mission isnt really hard with all the techs unlocked. But in career with a really low tech level it is quite hard..
But im drifting here ....

So:

Carrer on hard with no respawn, revertflight or quickloading; its the thing i play the most.
And Sandbox was the thing when i was a newby, and its still the thing if i want to have some goalless fun, just building 2500Ton Rockets, Crashing things, seeing how fast you could go with only boosters, and stuff like that. It was also a lot of fun in .9 with FAR, trying to make a huge plane Fly.

Sandbox. I just like to play with my own goals. And without any restrictionz.
